Technical Tour

On Friday 8th of September, a technical tour will be arranged to the beautiful areas around the river Dalälven north of Stockholm. The lower parts of the Dalälven river is the cradle of Swedish hydropower with several hydropower facilities from the early 20th century.

Vattenfalls laboratory facilities in Älvkarleby.

The village of Älvkarleby is still the Vattenfall (Swedish power utility) centre for laboratory resources connected to research and development. During the visit in Älvkarleby, a guided tour by foot over the dams including a description of the history and the performed upgrading projects will be given. After the visit to the dams, Vattenfall hosts a guided tour to the research laboratories showing i.a. the hydraulic laboratories and other ongoing research activities. More info

View of the power station at Fortum’s facility in Untra.

In the afternoon, Fortum (Swedish power utility) will be hosting a visit to the hydropower facility of Untra giving information on planned projects and recently performed full scale tests with a fuse-plug (erodible dam) in the facility of Lanforsen. More info

The technical tour starts with a bus tour from Stockholm on Friday morning at 08:00 and ends around 16:30 with drop-off at the Arlanda International Airport and at 17:15 in Stockholm.

Please note that there is a limitation in the maximum number of participants for the technical tour.
